The picture you see above might look like a gloomy photo of a car's interior, taken by someone who hasn't found the flash button on their camera, but, in fact, it's our first glimpse inside the new Land Rover Discovery.
Set to be unveiled at the New York Motor Show in 16 April, the new Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept car "will showcase Land Rover's design vision for a new family of Discovery vehicles." The new 'family' of Discovery models will include the replacement for the current Discovery, plus a new Freelander, which is due out next year.
The idea behind creating a family of Discovery models is to create three distinct sub-brands of the LR marque. At the posh end, there'll be the Range Rover brand, and at the utilitarian end, the Defender brand. The Discovery line-up will fit somewhere between the two.
Unfortunately, there's very little information available on what these new cars will actually be like; however, more information will undoubtedly be released in New York.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's design boss, said: "We have created the Vision Concept to share the essence of Land Rover’s new age of Discovery and to debut a new, compelling, relevant design direction that connects on an emotional level with customers of today and tomorrow."
