Nissan have announced that its new GT-R sports car will makes its first public appearance at Birmingham's Autosport International event later this month.
Sports car fans attending the PistonHeads Performance Car show at the event will get to see Nissan take the wraps off the 2011 version of its GT-R, which has seen its power grow to 523bhp, its maximum torque output increase to 451 lb-ft, and its 0-62mph time fall to three seconds flat. It has also gained newly-designed wheels, LED daytime running lights, improved front brakes and air intakes, a red engine cover, and a new interior. The car will be available with a choice of two interiors, with the Recaro option offering black leather seats with red flashes, and the Premium option which has leather and Alcantara upholstery. The display car on the Nissan stand will have the Recaro interior, and Daytona Blue paintwork, a new colour option for the new 2011 GT-R.
The Nissan stand will also be commemorating the 40th year of its Z-Cars in the UK. The Datsun 240Z made its UK debut in August 1971, and while the latest Nissan 370Z shares the same front engine, rear-wheel drive, two-seater set-up, the power from its 3.7-litre V6 engine is 324bhp compared to the more modest 148bhp its ancestor had at its disposal.
The show will also feature an FIA GT1 Championship spec GT-R which recently won the RAC tourist trophy, prepared and displayed by performance tuning outfit Sumo Power, while in the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena at Autosport International a second GT-R racer will be put through its paces. Also present will be the most powerful Nissan-badged car ever, a 2000bhp V6 Z-car built for drag racer John Bradshaw.
