Bentley is introducing the new Continental GT Speed -- the fastest Bentley ever made.
The GT speed gets an up-rated version of Bentley's 6.0-litre W12 engine. The W12 has always been a bit of a brute and in the GT Speed it has been tuned to develop a mighty 616bhp and 590lb-ft of torque -- vehicles with more torque than the Bentley usually have Eddie Stobart written down the side. The extra power means that this behemoth of a car can hit 62mph in four seconds dead and reach a top speed of 205mph.
The power is channelled to all four wheels via a close-ratio eight-speed gearbox and Bentley claims that the new transmission improves the GT's fuel economy and CO2 figures by 12%.
Improved steering, alongside tuned suspension and new 21-inch wheels, ensures that the GT Speed delivers a tauter and more agile driving experience than the standard Conti.
A new darker front grille, lower air intakes and rifled exhaust pipes complete the exterior look.
The Bentley Continental GT Speed will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and deliveries are slated to commence in October. There is no word yet on pricing but expect the GT Speed to cost north of £150,000.
