The latest generation Vauxhall Astra hasn’t even arrived in UK showrooms, but has already benefitted from efforts to lower its CO2 emissions.
With an all-new powertrain line-up, the new Vauxhall Astra was already 21% more C02-efficient than its predecessor, but that hasn’t stopped Vauxhall from tinkering with the engines to make them cleaner still.
The 1.5D 105PS manual hatchback now emits 90g/km of CO2, down from the 95g/km stated at launch, while the sports tourer also emits 90g/km, down from 94g/km. The 1.5D 122PS manual hatch falls from 90g/km down to 92g/km, while for the sports tourer the figure is down from 94g/km to 92g/km. The biggest reductions come from the 1.5D 122PS 9-speed auto, where a cut in emissions of 11g/km has been achieved, with the figure now 109g/km.
