MINI has released some official images of the new Rocketman concept.

The Rocketman was first revealed at last year's Geneva Motor Show and a couple of weeks ago we showed you pictures of what appeared to be this very car, at a photo shoot in London.

The Rocketman sees MINI returning to its roots and producing a genuinely small car. The Rocketman is just three metres long and is made from a blend of carbon-fibre and plastic, making it extremely light. Even the 18-inch wheels are made from an especially lightweight alloy.

We particularly like the glass roof, emblazoned with the Union Jack, which lights up in the dark.

There is still no word from MINI on whether the Rocketman will see production. We hope so -- it looks like it might just have what it takes to tempt buyers away from the Fiat 500 and we think a Rocketman John Cooper Works might just be one of the coolest cars on the road.
