Jaguar Land Rover are to showcase what they believe could be the steering wheel of the future.
The manufacturer will be exhibiting at the inaugural Tech Fest, to be held at London’s Central St Martins art, design and technology college, where they will be unveiling their Sayer concept.
Sayer is a voice-activated artificial intelligence steering wheel capable of carrying out hundreds of tasks on-demand. JLR imagine a future where the Sayer connected steering wheel will be the only part of a car you own, and which you use to call upon the vehicle of your choice as and when you need it.
Need to be at a meeting two hours away from home by 8am tomorrow? Simply ask Sayer from the comfort of your living room and it will work out when you get up, when a car needs to autonomously arrive at your door and even advise which parts of the journey you might enjoy driving yourself.
Although Sayer is a vision of the future, its name is a nod to the past – it’s named in honour of Malcolm Sayer, a prominent Jaguar designer between 1951 and 1970.
