It seems as if the new mini-MINI might actually make it to production after a picture of the car appeared on Twitter.
The photo was snapped by @conallmahon and shows the Rocketman resplendent in a blue and red paint finish during what appeared to be a video shoot in the streets of Central London.
The Rocketman concept was first shown at last year's Geneva Motor Show painted in grey. The car is just 16-inches longer and 20-inches wider than Alec Issigonis's original car from 1959.
Thanks to a carbon-fibre space-frame and clever packaging, the Rocketman is incredibly light and, if it reaches production, expect it to be capable of up to 94mpg.
There are very few details available on the Rocketman and it is still unclear whether it will ever see the light of day. However, MINI seems to be releasing a new car about once a week so we'd say that the signs are good.
The Rocketman would also silence critics who claim that the current MINI Hatch is too big and unfaithful to the original car in spirit.
