Mazda have announced that the Mazda6 range is to undergo an upgrade programme this autumn.
Handling will be enhanced by the addition of G-Vectoring Control, an innovative new system developed from Mazda’s SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS programme which varies engine torque to optimise the load on each wheel. G-Vectoring Control monitors steering and throttle position when cornering, controlling the engine, transmission, and chassis to distribute weight on the axles and wheels accordingly.
The four-engine line up remains unchanged, but the popular 2.2-litr SKYACTIV-D has been improved with the addition of two new systems. Transient Control reduces turbo lag and boosts torque, making the diesel engine more responsive, while Natural Sound Smoother Technology is a system which suppresses noise from the piston and connecting rod, making the engine much quieter during low-speed acceleration.
The Mazda6 will now be much quieter on the inside too, as the manufacturer has upgraded the door seals, tightened the tolerance between panels, fitted new laminated front side windows, and added sound deadening materials to the underbody, rear console, headliner, and doors.
Interior upgrades include a new leather steering. On Sport Nav models this steering wheel is heated, and the same trim level also gains an enhanced head-up display with colour and Traffic Sign Recognition, and electric memory seats that adjust the head-up display. SE-L Nav models upwards will now come with auto power-folding mirrors are standard, and Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support low-speed collision mitigation system.
The upgraded Mazda6 will arrive in UK showroom later in the autumn, with pricing to remain unchanged.
