The new Mazda 6 has been unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show.
The 6 follows on from the CX-5 released earlier this year by utilising Mazda's new SkyActiv technology and Kodo design language.
The new 6 is a full 110mm longer than the car it replaces, and this pays dividends inside -- there is 20mm more shoulder room in the front seats, as well as 37mm more legroom in the rear.
The hatchback body-style has been dropped and the new 6 is available as a saloon and estate only.
The new 6 is packed with safety equipment, and auto-dipping headlights, a blind spot warning system and lane departure warning are all included. Also on offer is an auto-braking system which means that the 6 will be eligible for a possible five-star safety rating in the new, more stringent Euro NCAP crash tests.
Mazda also claims that the new 6 is lighter than before, as well as being 30% stiffer, giving better handling, something for which the previous 6 was renowned.
Mazda has yet to reveal the engine line-up for the new 6, but expect a 2.0-litre petrol and a brace of 2.2-litre diesels.
The prices have not yet been released, but expect to see the new Mazda 6 on dealer forecourts, in both saloon and estate variants, from early next year.
