The Mazda MX-5 is 25 years old this year, and to celebrate the quarter-centenary of the world's best-selling sports car, Mazda has revealed a new special edition version of the current car.
Unveiled today at the New York Motor Show, the new special edition is based on the 158bhp 2.0-litre Roadster Coupe. It comes with an electrically-powered hard-top, a choice of six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and just one exterior paint finish -- Soul Red Metallic.
Other visual changes include a contrasting black-painted roof, A-pillars and door mirrors, while on the inside the seats are finished in off-white leather and embossed with a 25th Anniversary logo, while the dashboard is hand-finished in Piano Black.
Bilstein dampers and 17-inch Dark Gunmetal alloy wheels are also included as standard.
There is no news yet on whether the Anniversary Edition will be coming to the UK and, if it does, how much it will cost.
Mazda has also revealed the new SKYACTIV chassis which will be used for the next-generation MX-5. Also on display at the New York Motor Show, the new chassis marks the first time the company's SKYACTIV tech has been applied to a front-mid-engined layout with rear-wheel drive.
