Coys auctioneers are celebrating excellent results after they kicked off their 2015 auction programme on Saturday.
Their weekend spectacular saw sales take place simultaneously in Birmingham, and Maastricht in the Netherlands.
Particularly popular amongst buyers were the cars-of-the-stars, with the single seater Tatuus driven in the 2000 Formula Renualt championship by future F1 ace Kimi Raikkonen fetching £10,350. Meanwhile, a 1967 Volkswagen splitscreen camper previously owned by American Blues artist Seasick Steve sold for £29,500.
A staggering £131,720 was spent on a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa, while other noteworthy lots included a 1973 Jensen Interceptor Series 3 which sold for £20,060, a 1933 MG J2 which fetched £35,400, and a 1957 Land Rover which went for £3,630.
Fans of hit television show For the Love of Cars, which stars Philip Glenister – aka Life on Mars’ DCI Gene Hunt – and award-winning car designer Ant Anstead – will also have taken great interest in the event, as the seven mystery cars restored for the forthcoming new series also went under the hammer.
Chris Routledge, Managing Partner at Coys, said: “It was an exciting day for Coys with two auctions held simultaneously in different countries. This shows the international reach of the company, achieving some outstanding sales at both events.”
The next Coys auction comes on March 10th, when their Spring Classics event takes place at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Lindley Hall in London.
