The new and updated Ford Focus ST has gone on sale, with prices starting from just £22,195 -- £100 less than the outgoing model.
The Focus ST, which was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year, features a revised chassis, reduced emissions and, for this first time ever, is available as a diesel too. There is also a range of interior and exterior tweaks.
Two engines will be on offer: the existing 247bhp petrol units, as well as a new 183bhp 2.0-litre TDCI diesel, both of which will be offered across the entire range, including ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 models.
Despite its impressive turn of power, the new diesel units emits just 110g/km of CO2, while the petrol churns out 159g/km.
In addition to a new styling kit, tuned suspension and new 18-inch ST alloys, both ST-1 and ST-2 models also now get daytime-running lights and top-of-the-range ST-3 models get ‘Rock Metallic’ alloys with red brake callipers, illuminated scuff plates, privacy glass and Ford’s SYNC2 infotainment system.
“The new Focus ST delivers an even more sophisticated balance of performance, driving dynamics, refinement and style – the core of Ford’s Sports Technologies DNA,” said Ford’s Joe Bakaj. “Even more enjoyable and rewarding to drive and with the choice of diesel power for the first time, the new Focus ST is in a class of its own."
Since the Focus ST went on sale in 2002, more than 43,000 examples have found homes in Britain.
