Kia has revealed images of its first ever hot hatch, the Pro_cee'd GT, which will go on display at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Kia claims that the Pro_cee'd GT features 'bold athletic styling' and is 'the brand's most performance-focused production car ever'.

In truth, with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 201bhp and 195lb-ft of torque, the Pro_cee'd is more of a 'warm hatch' than a full-blooded hot hatch. By comparison, a Renaultsport Megane produces 261bhp and the Focus ST develops 247bhp.

It's the same story on the acceleration front too; while the Focus and the Megane manage the 0-62mph sprint in between 6.0 and 6.5 seconds, it takes the Pro_cee'd GT 7.9 seconds.

The Pro_cee'd GT was designed by Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Designer Officer at Kia, not to mention the man behind the original 1998 Audi TT.  LED daytime running lights, twin exhausts, Recaro seats and 18-inch alloys with red brake callipers all come as standard.

The Kia Pro_cee'd GT will go on sale in the middle of this year and will be joined by a five-door cee'd GT variant towards the end of 2013.
