The BBC have announced that Friends star, Matt Le Blanc, will present Top Gear alongside Chris Evans when the new series premieres in May.
Matt Le Blanc is fanatical about cars and also has impressive driving pedigree, he is the fastest ever guest on Top Gear's own 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' feature, setting an as-yet unbeaten lap time of 1m 42.1s in the Kia Cee’d.
“As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter,” said Mr Le Blanc. “What a thrill!”
Chris Evans had this to say: “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas.
“We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year,” he added.
Update: Matt Le Blanc has now had a few days for the reaction to his appointment to sink in, here's what he had to say during a radio interview with his new co-host, Chris Evans.
"I knew Top Gear was a big show. But, wow, I was on the front page of the New York Times. There was so much I couldn't read it all. Thanks to Top Gear - and the BBC - I've been ducking paparazzi all day long."
It is suspected that there will be at least one more presenter announced in the coming months and it is going to have to be someone pretty special to be more notable - or newsworthy - than Joey from Friends!
