Jaguar are showcasing the new XE’s impressive fuel economy by sending Hollywood superstar Idris Elba on a road trip from London to Berlin behind the wheel of their latest model.
The Golden Globe Award winning actor, musician, and film maker will pilot a Jaguar XE 2.0-litre, 161bhp, four-cylinder diesel across four countries in three days in a real world test of the new model’s claimed best-in-class 75mpg fuel economy.
Jaguar say the lightweight aluminium construction and aerodynamic features of the new XE make it the most fuel efficient car ever produced by the company, which also sees the CO2 emissions fall below the magic 100g/km mark.
Car nut Idris said of the 750 mile trip, “My work takes me around the world, but I rarely have the time or luxury of getting behind the wheel for myself. I wanted to do this trip and record the experience through a series of short films. I have long been a fan of Jaguar’s incredible sporting heritage and have been truly impressed with how the brand has evolved over the past few years. It’s a real privilege to drive the new XE on this road trip across Europe.”
In addition to the 2.0-litre diesel in Idris’ XE, the range comes with a selection of four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as the latest in infotainment and technological features including smartphone apps, Wi-Fi, and premium Meridian audio systems.
