The Icona Vulcano, a one-off two-seater V12 hypercar from a brand-new manufacturer, is set to make its international debut at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
In case you haven't heard of Icona, it's a Shanghai-based automotive design house which, in its own words, "brings together the best of European design, engineering, modeling and prototyping experience in the automotive sector for the benefit of its customers in China and Asia." The Vulcano is Icona's first ever completed car.
Icona has employed Claudio Lombardi, a former Formula One engineer who spent time at Ferrari in the early 1990s, to develop the Vulcano's powertrain. As a result, the Vulcano is fitted with a hybrid powertrain which combines a V12 petrol engine with electric motors to develop more than 900bhp.
Top speed will be around 217mph and 0-124mph will take less than 10 seconds.
The Vulcano's design team is headed by Samuel Chuffart, a French designer formerly of Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover. The design of the Vulcano is claimed to be influenced by the four-seater Icona Fuselage concept designed by Chuffart in 2011.
