A one-off Ford Shelby GT500 Cobra has been built to commemorate the life of the legendary US engineer and racing driver Carroll Shelby who passed away this year.

The tribute car is fitted with a Ford Racing V8 with a whacking great Whipple Supercharger bolted onto the side of it. Because of this, the Cobra develops a monumental 850bhp. We'll just let that sink in for a moment. 850bhp... in a Mustang. Blimey!

The Cobra is also fitted with a special bodykit and is finished in Guardsman Blue with a Wimbledon White double-stripe in tribute to the Cobra roadsters of the 1960s. The Cobra rides on 20-inch wheels which are 10-inches wide at the front and 13-inches wide at the back.

The Cobra was unveiled by Ford Motor Company board member Edsel Ford II at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this weekend.
