Ford is celebrating 50 years of the Mustang with a new special edition model, which has been revealed today at the New York Motor Show.
Called, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition, the special edition is based on the Mustang GT Fastback and is available in a choice of white and blue colours.
Just 1,964 cars will be built -- a nod to the Mustang's year of introduction -- and each will get a range of styling tweaks including extra chrome trim, new taillights and, as a tribute to the 1965 Fastback, louvered rear quarter windows.
Inside, there are smatterings of aluminium, new badging and a new steering wheel. The seats also bear the Mustang 50th anniversary logo.
Under the bonnet, you'll find the same 5.0-litre V8 engine used on the GT, developing 420bhp and 390lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels through either an automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox, and when equipped with the latter, buyers also get a limited-slip differential as standard.
19-inch alloy wheels are also fitted as standard, along with performance Brembo brakes and Pirelli tyres.
The new 50th Anniversary Mustang will go into production later this year; however, Ford has yet to confirm whether the model will be coming to the UK.
