UK deliveries of the new right-hand-drive Ford Mustang have surpassed the 1,000 mark.

Over 3,500 have been ordered by UK customers in total, with 80% of those plumping for the fastback body style and over two thirds choosing the 410bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine. The Mustang buying public remain at odds over the choice of gearbox however, with the six-speed manual on 54% and the six-speed, SelectShift automatic making up the remaining 46%.

A fifth of Mustang’s ordered are finished in Race Red, the most popular colour choice, but from this month there will be a trio of new colours available. White Platinum, Grabber Blue and Lightning Blue join the colour range, replacing Competition Orange, Deep Impact Blue and Guard Grey which are no longer available to order.

Also joining the Ford Mustang range, which starts from £30,995, are the SYNC 3 8in colour touchscreen with nine-speaker DAB radio, USB & Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
