Ford have introduced the Meople Connector app for iOS and Android devices to its SYNC AppLink connectivity system in a move which will make social media access safer for drivers.
With more people finding news and information via social media the new technology will allow Ford drivers to access messages from outlets such as Twitter and LinkedIn by using voice-control to access the sites.
Don Butler, Executive Director for Connected Vehicle and Services at Ford Motor Company said, “For many people today, social media is fundamental to staying up-to-date and informed. From a reminder that it’s a friend’s birthday, to hearing the minute your football team scores a goal, to breaking news, social media is part of the fabric of modern life. By adding further news and personal communications, we are helping to ensure customers can stay seamlessly connected throughout their day in a safe and stress-free way.”
The new technology enables drivers to “Read”, “Answer” and “Skip” received messages using the appropriate voice commands. The SYNC AppLink system enables drivers to voice-activate a range of smartphone apps, but Meople Connector is the company’s first AppLink-enabled social media app for SYNC.
