The Ford GT supercar has been such an unexpected success for the blue oval brand that it has been announced that production of the model will be extended for two years longer than was originally planned.
Around 1,350 additional models will be produced to meet customer demand in a number of worldwide markets, including the UK.
The process for purchasing a new Ford GT begins by application, the window for which will now be re-opened for a month from 8 November, with the successful applicants then working with the dedicated Ford GT Concierge Service in a personalised purchasing process.
When production of the twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6-powered Ford GT began at the end of 2016, it was originally announced as a limited run of 1,000 vehicles across four years, but the newly-announced extended production will see the model continue to be made until 2022.
Ford also recently announced a new Ford GT Heritage Edition model. The Heritage Edition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original GT40 winning the legendary Le Mans 24-hour race in both 1968 and 1969. It will be finished in a limited-edition blue and orange Gulf Oil tribute racing livery.
