Ferrari has announced that its new 488 GTB mid-rear-engined supercar will make its UK debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The 488 GTB is Ferrari’s first mid-engined twin-turbo V8 offering since the 288 GTO and F40, and the manufacturer claims a unique engine management system will ensure response times equivalent to a naturally-aspirated V8 by controlling torque delivery and eliminating turbo lag. The 488 GTB will be put to the test at the Festival of Speed by tackling the challenging and iconic 1.6 mile Goodwood Hill Climb course.
Joining the 488 GTB in Ferrari’s most spectacular ever Festival of Speed line up will be the track-only FXX-K model, boasting F1-style KERS technology. The 488 GTB will also undertake the Michelin Supercar Run at the Festival of Speed alongside a Ferrari California T, F12 Berlinetta, LaFerrari, and F12 TRS, and a Ferrari 458 Challenge will compete in the Hill Climb for GT race cars. Meanwhile, Ferrari’s Corse Clienti GT racing division will be bringing its 599 XX. A 2010 Ferrari F10 Formula 1 car in the hands of Marc Gene rounds off the manufacturer’s official Festival of Speed line up, but a number of Ferrari’s from private entrants will be on hand representing the marque from the 1950s to the present day.
