Jaguar has given the I-PACE Concept model its first real-life road test as it took to the streets of London this week.
The production version I-PACE is due to be unveiled later this year, and will be Jaguar’s first electric vehicle. It is due to go on sale to the public in late 2018. Designed as a performance SUV, the I-PACE will be capable of 0-60mph in around 4 seconds, powered by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery that can be 80% in just an hour-and-a-half via a 50kW DC charger. The compact, lightweight electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles generate the equivalent of 395bhp, and give the I-PACE a range of over 300 miles.
This week’s road test around London’s Olympic Park is the next step in Jaguar’s mission to keep the I-PACE on track for first deliveries to commence before the end of next year. The company has already begun taking pre-orders for the model, with customers able to register their interest via Jaguar’s website.
