The new Chevrolet Trax will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Underneath, the Trax is essentially the same car as the Vauxhall Mokka; however, it will be around £2,000 cheaper than its GM stablemate with prices starting from around the £15k mark.

The Trax will also be available with the same engines used in the Mokka, including a 140bhp 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and GM's venerable old 1.7-litre diesel engine producing 130bhp. AWD will be available on both the 1.4-litre and 1.7-litre derivatives, as will start/stop functionality.

Despite their shared underpinnings, the Trax and the Mokka look very different from the outside, with the Trax looking decidedly more 'American' thanks to its large two-level Chevrolet corporate grille.

The Chevrolet Trax is expected to go on sale here in Blighty in early 2013.
