Chevrolet has revealed a convertible version of the new C7 Corvette at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new C7 Corvette Stingray Convertible is powered by the same 450bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine as the coupe, mated to either a six-speed automatic gearbox or a seven-speed manual.
Crucially, Chevrolet designed the 'Vette as a convertible from the outset, so the roof of the hard-top version is not structurally integral to the car. This means that Chevy has not had to reinforce the drop-top's body and, consequently, this means that the weight difference between the two cars is negligible.
Performance figures have not yet been released, but expect a 0-62mph time of less than four seconds.
Like the previous Corvette convertible, the new car is supplied with a canvas roof rather than a metal folding one, which can be raised or lowered electronically at speeds of up to 30mph.
Unfortunately, Chevrolet has no plans to import the Corvette, in either tin-top or soft-top guise, to the UK.
