The Caterham R500, which was driven around the Top Gear test track by none other than the Stig, is to be brought out of retirement to appear at the Top Gear Live show.

The R500 set the eleventh fastest time around the Top Gear track in 2008, completing a circuit in 1:17.9 seconds, and the Stig is set to return to the wheel of the R500 on a purpose-built indoor track at the Top Gear Live event.

Andy Noble of Caterham Cars said, "We always said that we'd need a damn good reason to bring the Top Gear R500 out of retirement, so when we got the call, we couldn't resist the temptation to unleash it on the public once more on this unique indoor track."

Top Gear Live will appear at the Birmingham NEC from 11th to 13th November and at London's ExCel from 24th to 27th November.
