Taxi drivers looking to make their black cab stand out from the crowd are among the groups of motorists who will be taking great interest in DVLA Personalised Registrations’ second live sale of 2016, which starts on Wednesday at the Oxford Belfry Hotel.

CAB 131E is one of the registrations up for grabs, and with a reserve of just £250 will certainly pique the interest of many a cabbie. Beauticians may be tempted by EYE 820W at the same reserve, but computer game fans will have to shell out a little more for 64 MER, which carries a reserve of £1,200. At £700 reserve, WR16 HTS is sure to find Mr –or Mrs – Wright, while anyone lucky enough to be named Lisa Cox can snap up L154 COX for as little as £250.

Ferrari owners can choose from F458 FUN (£250 reserve), F488 GTS (£250), and 488 T (£2,500), Honda NSX owners will be interested by 2 NSX (£400), and those lucky enough to own a Porsche 918 hybrid hypercar could complete the look with 918 S (£2,500).

DVLA Personalised Registrations auctions are becoming big business, with more than 99% of lots in February’s event finding buyers, with the total raised exceeding £5.3 million.

Adam Griffiths, of DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “We have experienced a record-breaking run of sales over the last 18 months or so, success that continued with our first auction of 2016 when all but three lots were sold. We’ve carefully put together another blend of personalised registrations to suit all tastes and, above all, budgets. Who knows, but this could be our first sale whereby every lot is sold.”
