Ford really have got a knack for building well-priced, practical and good-to-drive family cars, and the innovative new Ford B-MAX is the latest example of this.
We'll admit it, when we first saw the B-MAX, with its B-pillar-less bodyshell and sliding doors, we thought it a tad gimmicky. How wrong we were.
By removing the B-pillars, Ford has created a fantastically practical small MPV which easily bests any of its class rivals. The huge opening between A- and C-pillars makes entry and egress a doddle, and those sliding doors remove the worry of clonking the car next to you in a multi-storey car park.

On top of this, the B-MAX, like all Fords, is a hoot to drive thanks to its sharp steering and well-sorted chassis. Ford's fantastic EcoBoost engine is also on offer, delivering strong performance while returning astonishing fuel economy and CO2 figures.
The B-MAX really does take the compact MPV market to the next level, and for this reason it has to be our Small MPV of the Year.
