In a world in which cars are increasingly complicated, lavish and, let's face it, expensive, the Dacia Duster is a breath of fresh air.
With prices starting from just £8,995, the Duster really is terrific value for money. For that you get a capable, chunky, well-made off-roader which offers plenty of interior space and -- on the 4x4 models at least -- genuine off-road capability.
Okay, we'll admit that if you were to take price out of the equation the Duster would struggle against many of its key rivals; however, in terms of sheer bang-for-your-buck, it is by far and away the best car in its class, perhaps even the best car on the road.

You don't get a lot of standard kit, but you do get everything you need, including a range of well-proven Renault engines and robust mechanicals. In fact, judging on the feel of the Duster's interior, we'd say that it feels tough enough to take years of off-road punishment in its stride.
And, perhaps most importantly, the Duster does something which cars ten times more expensive often fail to do -- it puts a smile on your face.
