Nissan have confirmed that the next generation Nissan LEAF will include autonomous driving technology.
The all-electric LEAF will be fitted with the latest ProPILOT technology, enabling autonomous drive functionality in single-lane driving. Operated at the touch of a button, ProPILOT can control steering, acceleration and braking, providing assistance during heavy traffic congestion and long commutes.
Nissan ProPILOT technology will be developed in the future to include the ability to navigate city intersections.
Part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s blueprint for transforming how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society, ProPILOT is aimed at making driving safer and more enjoyable.
Gareth Dunsmore, Director of Electric Vehicles, Nissan Europe said: “The ultimate embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the new Nissan LEAF will be the most advanced, accessible EV on the market, today.
Adding ground-breaking ProPILOT technology to the new Nissan LEAF will prove invaluable in unlocking many of the benefits of electric vehicles, creating less congested, cleaner cities for future generations.”
