A drop-top version of the Audi S3 will be added to the A3 Cabriolet range at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Like the three-door, five-door and saloon versions of the S3, the S3 Cabriolet will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 296bhp. The power will be sent to all four wheels through a six-speed S tronic gearbox and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system.

Audi claims the S3 Cabrio will complete the 0-62mph sprint in 5.4 seconds, compared to the hatch's 4.8 and the Sportback's 4.9, largely due to the fact that the drop-top weighs around 200kg more than its tin-top counterparts.

Underneath, Audi has fiddled with the chassis and lowered the car by 25mm. New and firmer springs and dampers are also included, along with thicker anti-roll bars.

18-inch alloy wheels are included as standard, under which you'll find bigger brakes -- the front brake discs now measure a whopping 340mm in diameter.

On the outside, the S3 Cabriolet can be differentiated from lesser models in the A3 Cab range thanks to its subtle bodykit, grey grille insert and bi-xenon headlights. Inside, you'll find sports seats finished in Nappa leather and fabric upholstery, a sports steering wheel and stainless steel pedals.

UK prices are yet to be confirmed but are expected to start from just under £40,000 when the first deliveries take place in September.
