Audi is set to launch a new petrol-powered version of its SQ5 at the Detroit Motor Show.
The new SQ5 is fitted with a more powerful version of the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine fitted to the S5, developing 349bhp and 346lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph takes 5.3 seconds and the SQ5 will carry on accelerating up to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
The SQ5 sits 30mm closer to the road than the standard Q5 and comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
The new model joins the SQ5 range alongside the SQ5 TDI we told you about last year; however, Audi has no plans to market the petrol-powered car in Britain. This is hardly surprising considering the British motorists' love of DERV and the fact that the petrol-burning SQ5 is actually slower than its diesel counterpart.
The first diesel SQ5s are expected to arrive in the UK in the spring.
