Audi have set out to prove the potency of their first ever fully-electric SUV by tackling an infamous ski slope.
The 85% gradient of the Mausefalle section of the downhill course at Kitzbuhel in Austria was tackled by world rallycross champ Mattias Ekstrom behind the wheel of a specially-equipped Audi e-tron. Equipped with a special Quattro powertrain, the e-tron achieved a boost output of up to 370kW and a staggering 6,579.1 lb-ft of torque during the feat. Spiked tyres on the 19-inch alloy wheels were developed especially for the challenge.
It isn’t the first time Audi have used extreme events to demonstrate the e-tron’s potential. The model has already undergone demonstration runs at Pikes Peak in the USA, the Namibian salt plains, and a high-voltage test bay in Berlin.
