On this day in 1913, two men by the names of Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford founded what was to become one of the most iconic car manufacturers in the history of motoring.
Originally named, rather unimaginatively, Bamford & Martin Ltd., the company was renamed Aston Martin in the 1920s in honour of the marque's success at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb in Buckinghamshire. Since then, Aston Martin has produced some of the most desirable cars in motoring history, gone bankrupt several times and, of course, become the car brand of choice for a certain British spy.
To celebrate its 100th birthday, Aston Martin has unveiled new Centenary Edition versions of each of its current models: the Cygnet, the Vantage, the DB9, the Rapide and the Vanquish.
Each individually numbered model receives a bespoke paint finish, unique solid silver badging and a black leather interior with contrasting silver stitching -- a feature which was previously only available on the One-77 hypercar.
In addition to this, all models come with a 'unique presentation box' containing two glass keys, two leather key pouches, solid silver cufflinks, a solid silver biro and some Bang and Olufsen headphones.
Only 100 special edition models will be produced and are available to order now, but prices are only available on application.
