The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class concept will have its world premiere at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show.

Mercedes claims that the concept's designers took their inspiration from the wind and the waves, as well as aviation engineering, and it shows - the concept looks very futuristic and very stylish.

Underneath the space-age bonnet sits a conventional 2.0-litre four-pot petrol engine developing 210bhp. Mated to a double-clutch transmission, Mercedes claims that the A-Class concept offers low emissions and excellent fuel consumption.

The concept also features a radar-based collision warning system which gives a visual and acoustic warning to the driver and prepares Brake Assist in the event of an imminent collision.

The Shanghai Motor Show is being held between the 21st and the 28th of April.
