Next year will mark the 60th birthday of the iconic Citroen DS, with celebrations to mark the anniversary of the cutting-edge design to begin at the inaugural London Classic Car show early next month.
The show will take place at the ExCeL International Exhibition Centre in London Docklands from 8-11 January, with two classic DS models – a 1972 DS21 Prestige and an ultra-rare 1966 DS21 Decapotable with Henri Chapron coachwork – taking pride of place on the DS show stand.
In addition, a 1967 ID21 Safari, a 1972 DS Group V rally prototype, and a 1961 ID19, will be on moving display as part of the ‘Grand Avenue’ motoring catwalk.
Joining them will be a selection of models from the current DS range, which was launched as a standalone premium brand earlier this year. The DS 3 Ultra Prestige a flagship DS 5 Hybrid4 will represent the current range on the DS show stand alongside the original Citroen DS’, while the DS 5 used by current French President Francois Hollande at his inauguration will join in with the ‘Grand Avenue’ parade.
Bek Hassan, Brand Director for DS, said “The classic DS reaches an incredible landmark year in 2015. As we celebrate 60 years of DS – which it’s fair to say has helped shape modern day motoring – it seems very fitting for us to start a year of celebrations at the London Classic Car Show.”
