If you are looking for a good looking cabriolet convertible this could be a good choice. While it doesn’t offer the same fuel economy as its diesel powered sister, the advanced handling will sharpen the ride.
PROS: As well as maintaining the striking good looks of the other Eos versions, the Volkswagen Eos Sport 2.0 TSI offers lowered suspension to enhance the handling and add to the driving experience.
CONS: Advertised to seat five adults, but suits four much better. The folding roof takes up a lot of boot space. The high insurance group might put off potential customers.
The 1984 cc 16-valve petrol engine produces 207 bhp at 5,300 rpm and 206 lb ft torque at 1700 rpm.
As a result of these impressive performance figures, the car can reach a top speed of 148 mph and goes from 0-62 mph pretty quickly, in 7.8 seconds.
There is no doubt that this is a classy looking car and will garner attention. Rear parking sensors, electric door mirrors and electric front windows come as standard, but satellite navigation is extra at £785.
Cruise control is available for another £220, but Bluetooth and MP3 connectivity are as standard.
A set of 19 inch alloy wheels set this car off nicely.
The Eos is listed as a five-seater, but four will fit in far more comfortably. The 380 litre boot is a little restrictive.
Driver, passenger and side impact air bags are standard and the renowned Volkswagen build quality will ensure a safe and sturdy car. It is fitted with an immobiliser and alarm as standard.
The car comes with the manufacturers’ standard two year or 60,000 mile warranty.
The Eos Sport is a quality car, with great efficiency and a good performance. It is not the most practical, but it looks stylish and drives well, particularly with the sport suspension to sharpen handling. It is expensive at £27,510, but perhaps it is worth it. It also has high resale values.
In terms of efficiency, the Volkswagen Eos Sport 2.0 TSI returns a 39.8 mpg rate and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km, which is still quite high despite the relatively good fuel economy of the engine. The diesel engine will serve much better in this capacity.
