PROS: The RCZ looks great, drives well and offers good performance figures.
CONS: The rear seats are only suitable for children and the ride is a little firm.
The Peugeot RCZ Asphalt THP 200's 1.6-litre petrol engine develops 200bhp and 206lb-ft of torque. This translates into a low 0-62mph time of 7.6 seconds and a high top speed of 146mph.
The RCZ handles very well indeed thanks to its sharp, direct steering and firm suspension. There's plenty of grip on offer and the RCZ is a hoot to drive. It's not the quietest car in the world, however, and the engine can get noisy at higher revs. On the plus side, road and wind noise are well tamed.
The RCZ looks great and for the first time in as long as we can remember, Peugeot are making a car that you might actually want to buy. It's not as desirable as its German rivals, the Scirocco and the Audi TT, but it's a good looking car nevertheless.
It's the same story on the inside. The cabin is beautifully made from good quality soft-touch plastics and the whole interior looks very stylish.
Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, climate control, rear parking sensors, leather seats, Sat-Nav, CD player, MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth.
The RCZ is not the most practical car in the world and although it does have four seats, the rear seats are useless for adults. However, there is a decent amount of boot space with 309-litres on offer.
Peugeot don't have the best reputation when it comes to reliability but the RCZ feels much better made than Pugs of old. The RCZ is still too new for their to be any data on its reliability but we would advise you to proceed with caution.
The RCZ has not been tested by Euro NCAP but should be very safe and is fitted with four airbags as standard.
At £29,995, the RCZ Asphalt is too expensive. For this money you can get a decent mid-range Audi TT or a top-of-the-line Scirocco. If the RCZ was brilliant we could forgive this but it isn't.
The running costs will be relatively reasonable for a sports coupe and you should manage to get 42.1mpg (combined). Group G insurance is also pretty cheap thanks to CO2 emissions of 155g/km. Resale values should be average.

The RCZ is a great car. It's by no means the best car in its class but it drives well, looks great and is fairly cheap to run. A return to form for Peugeot.
The RCZ Asphalt is a cracking coupe which offers a good amount of standard kit, great looks and a good amount of power from its 1.6-litre engine. However, at just under £30k, many buyers are going ...
