Hyundai ix20 1.6 CRDi Style Blue Drive 5dr - March 2012

Hyundai IX20 Overview

The model is a 5-door, 5-seater hatchback that is available with a 1.4 litre or 1.6 litre petrol engine. It is also available with a 1.4 litre diesel engine, which boasts the better fuel consumption rates.

Road grip is good and the handling of the ix20 is reasonably sharp, making for a smooth and secure drive. The ride is well refined except for when travelling at high speeds with the diesel engine, which can get a little noisy.

The ix20 has a sleek and stylish exterior which is emulated by a cabin which does not disappoint. The elevated driving position is adjustable to achieve maximum comfort and the control system is bold and easy to use. Head and legroom is decent throughout the cabin, while the generously sized boot can be enlarged further by folding the rear seats flat.

Typical of Hyundai, the level of equipment provided with the ix20 is very good. Entry level models all come with a CD player with a USB socket, electric windows and air conditioning as standard.

Background

The Hyundai ix20 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2010.

The three transmissions available for the model are 4-speed automatic, 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual.

The ix20 received a maximum five star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests in 2011. It also comes with a 5 year warranty.

Summary

The stylish Hyundai ix20 boasts a spacious interior and comes with an excellent level of standard equipment. It delivers a decent ride and makes a great car for young families.
