CarSite Verdict:  3.5/5
The Jazz Hybrid HX-T 5dr is an excellent car with good fuel efficient, bank-vault build quality and a spacious and practical interior. Superminis really don't come much better than this.

PROS:  Low running costs, superb build quality, excellent use of interior space

CONS:  Expensive, slow, uninspiring to drive

Behind the Wheel

The Jazz Hybrid HX-T 5dr develops 87bhp and 89lb-ft of torque. This makes for a 0-62mph time of 12.3 seconds and a top speed of 109mph. The Jazz rides reasonably well and the steering is sharp and precise. It's not the most fun car to drive but it grips reasonably well through the corners and at speed, it is quiet and composed.

Looks & Equipment

The Jazz is a good looking car and comes with a decent amount of standard equipment.

Alloy wheels, climate control, electric mirrors, leather seats, electric windows, Bluetooth and a CD player with MP3 connectivity are all included as standard. Metallic paint is an optional extra at £440.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

For families that require boot space, for a small family car this model can provide 303 litres of free are, which is quite spacious for a small mode.

In terms of reliability this car is covered for three years, or for 90,000 miles, which is more generous than other small family cars such as the Ford Fiesta, which only offers 60,000 miles under warranty.

The hybrid drivetrain does have a negative impact on boot space but the Jazz still offers a decent 303 litres of boot space.

Value for Money

The Hybrid HX-T is priced at £19,305. This is fairly expensive for a Jazz but running costs will be very low thanks to the Jazz's hybrid technology. You should get more than 62mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 104g/km mean that the Jazz Hybrid falls under VED band B. Boris won't be happy either because the Jazz Hybrid is congestion charge exempt and if you live in London, this alone may be enough to justify the high price tag.
