The Geneva International Motor Show will host the world debut of SEAT's new IBX concept car.
The IBX concept is an urban sports utility vehicle which extends the sporty design and powerful character of SEAT's smaller cars into a larger SUV/sports coupe crossover. In addition to providing greater practical utility the new concept also offers efficiency and cleanliness through its innovative hybrid powertrain. This hybrid system allows for zero-emission city driving, and an internal combustion engine for longer range cross-country driving.
At 4.26 metres long the SEAT IBX is a compact SUV, which features a sporty and dynamic looking design. It has a stretched roofline and a distinctive rear roof pillar and measures 1.80 metres in width and 1.62 metres in height.
The tapered 'arrow design' front end of the IBX is dominated by the full LED headlights displaying a characteristic V shape. Meanwhile the stretched roof is accentuated by the rear spoiler and narrow glass surfaces along the sides.
In electric mode the SEAT IBX has a range of 45 kilometres, which the firm believes is enough to cover most city journeys with zero local emissions. For longer journeys the car is fitted with an internal combustion engine, which is likely to be a direct injection TDI or TSI engine from the current SEAT line-up. Even when using this internal combustion engine there is a range of technology to ensure maximum efficiency, all taken from the SEAT Ecomotive programme. These include start-stop engine technology and brake energy recuperation.
