The Ssangyong Tivoli range is set to grow in more ways than one with the introduction of a new longer-bodied version called the XLV.

Based on a concept model displayed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show, the new Tivoli XLV brings added space and practicality, with its body lengthened by 235mm from behind the C pillar to extend its load capacity to 720 litre. The new model will debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, and when introduced will come with a choice of 1.6-litre Euro 6 compliant petrol or diesel engines, 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions, and in two or four-wheel drive.

Joining the new Tivoli XLV on the Ssangyong stand in Geneva will be a midsize premium SUV concept called the SIV-2. It will be the second example of what Ssangyong dubs the ‘Smart Interface Vehicle’, a mild hybrid powered by a 1.5 litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine combined with a 10kW electric motor-generator and a 500Wh lithium ion battery. Combined with the SIV-2’s lightweight body and low centre of gravity, this eco-friendly system reduces both CO2 emissions and running noise.
