An American businessman was involved in the world's most expensive car crash when his Ferrari 250 GTO collided with another vehicle.

Multi-millionaire Christopher Cox was driving his 1962 GTO through France when the accident happened. His wife Anne suffered a broken leg in the crash and two passengers from the other vehicle were taken to hospital.

The £20 million GTO is fitted with a 3.0-litre V12 developing 300bhp. This means a 0-62mph time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 174mph.

Last month, a similar 250 GTO built for Stirling Moss fetched an impressive £22.7 million at auction and Chris Evans (pictured below) has just sold his GTO for a cool £18 million -- £6.5 million more than he paid for it two years ago.
