A car belonging to the Enid Blyton character Noddy is expected to fetch up to £25,000 when it goes up for auction later this month.

Okay, so Noddy never actually drove the car (what with him being a fictional character and everything), but the car in question is a genuine replica of the car in which Noddy and Big Ears travelled around Toyland.

The car, which bears the registration number NOD 513, is a 1969 Fiat Gamine Vignale which was used to promote Noddy following Enid Blyton's death in 1968. The two seater roadster was based on a Fiat 500 and was built by Italian coachbuilders Carozzeria Vignale between 1967 and 1971. The Fiat is fitted with a 594cc engine and has covered just 4,553 miles from new.

The Noddy car will be sold by Silverstone Auctions on 27 July. Will Smith, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, said of the car: "This amazing Noddy Car has got to be one of the most easily recognisable cars anywhere on the planet.

"Our auction at the Silverstone Classic is a great opportunity to own a fascinating piece of automotive history, which can most accurately be described as 'the' Noddy Car."

So if you fancy owning a piece of Noddy history, pop down to Silverstone next Saturday. You'll have to buy your own hat with a bell on it though.
