After three-years of construction and £51 million invested, the car manufacturer BMW has opened its largest showroom in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Vehicles in the new BMW Group showroom will be BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW motorcycles.

The BMW Group’s long-standing importer for the region - called Abu Dhabi Motors - has invested around AED 300 million (approx. £51 million) in the new 35,000-square-metre showroom over its three year construction.

“The Middle East is an important region for the BMW Group. We sold more vehicles here in 2011 than ever before. There is tremendous future growth potential in many countries in this region and in the United Arab Emirates in particular,” said Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

He added that the investment in this impressive and unique facility highlighted the continued opportunities that lie ahead in Abu Dhabi and in the Middle Eastern region as a whole for car makers.

The Middle East was a territory of success for the car firm in 2011. In just one year a total of 18,657 BMW and MINI brand vehicles were sold in the region’s 14 import markets. This represents an increase of more than 9% year-on-year.

In addition, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) accounted for more than 47% of deliveries, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai the largest markets. The best-selling vehicles in the region last year were large model series cars such as the BMW 7 Series, the 5 Series, the X5 and the X6.

The facility in Umm Al Nar houses separate showrooms and sales areas for the three premium automobile brands, BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, and for BMW motorcycles.

Customers visiting the showroom will be allowed to view the brand's entire model line-up in different colours and different option packages, with more than 70 cars and 10 motorcycles on permanent display.

More than 450 staff members will work there and the workshop will be able to perform maintenance on up to 120 vehicles simultaneously.
