Mazda MX-5 Overview

The Mazda MX-5 provides adequate passenger space for two, and a small boot big enough for a few items. The quick acceleration of the MX-5 coupled with the excellent handling make for a very pleasurable driving experience.

The car is an incredibly stylish one, which is also very reliable and features a comfortable interior. Furthermore, a key advantage is the affordability of the car compared to its competitors.

Background

The first generation Mazda MX-5 was produced between 1989 and 1998. A 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual transmission were available, with a choice of 1.6L and 1.8L engines.

The model could reach 60mph from a standstill in 9.1 seconds and topped out at 116mph. In 1993, 1500 limited edition cars were produced with many luxury interior updates.

In 1998 the second generation of the MX-5 was released, which was slightly larger than its predecessor and had received many interior changes.

The model received a facelift in 2001, which gave it a more sporty-looking exterior and an upgraded interior.

The third generation of the Mazda MX-5 has been in production since 2005. It is available with a 2.0 litre engine, and a six-speed automatic transmission, with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, is optional.

The model received a facelift in 2009 with a restyled exterior, incorporating new headlights and a larger grille.
