Volkswagen have begun taking orders for three new models in their Golf Estate range.
The Volkswagen Golf R and Golf GTD Estates boast an impressive 605 litres of seats-up boot capacity, and are joined by the new Alltrack model which, like the R, comes with 4MOTION 4-wheel drive.
Like the hatchback version, the Golf R Estate is powered by a 296bhp 2.0-itre TSI petrol turbo, going from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds. Sharing the same trim and spec as its hatchback sibling, including the six-speed DSG gearbox as standard, the Golf R Estate boasts a top speed of 155mph.
The 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine in the Golf GTD estate produces over 180bhp, and although it can do 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 143mph still returns 64.2mpg combined and CO2 emissions of just 115g/km. The model comes with a six-speed manual gearbox but can be specified with the six-speed DSG box for an extra £1,415.
The addition of an Alltrack model to the Golf range follows on from its bigger brother the Passat Alltrack which was launched here in 2012. With the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system as standard, increased ground clearance by up to 20mm, and rugged off-road styling, the Golf Alltrack Estate comes with a choice of three TDI diesel engines – the 109bhp 1.6-litre unit, and 148bhp and 182bhp versions of the 2.0-litre engine, the last of which is available with a six-speed DSG gearbox only.
UK order book are open now, with first deliveries expected in August.
