Volvo’s surge in UK sales looks to have produced a positive knock-on effect on the jobs market.

The manufacturer has announced plans to recruit a further 300 technicians across its 119-strong UK dealer network over the next three years as it plans to keep up with the demand created by increasing sales and an expanding product range that has recently seen the addition of the new S90 and V90. The announcement, which comes hot on the heels of a confirmed £6million investment in a state-of-the-art training centre in Northamptonshire, will see the number of Volvo Car UK technicians increase by 50% by 2020.

Volvo are looking for new technical talent to help provide a modern and visually transparent service for customers as the company looks to remain at the forefront of systems such as semi-autonomous driving and hybrid power.

Jon Wakefield, Managing Director, Volvo Car UK, said: "Any technician joining Volvo will get the chance to work on exciting industry-leading technology, including autonomous drive, in-car connectivity and hybrid powertrains.  For those looking to join our 600-strong team of technicians, our continued investment into our staff will allow them to progress their knowledge of new car technology, engineering and design – and grow alongside the Volvo brand."
