Volkswagen began 2016 in the midst of a damaging emissions scandal, but newly released figures show that this hasn’t stopped demand for the manufacturer’s products from growing.
With 870,300 vehicles delivered globally last month, the Volkswagen Group was able to celebrate a 4.7% growth. Added to the figures for the first three-quarters of 2016, that means an increase in worldwide Volkswagen Group sales of 2.6% so far this year, with European sales up by 3.3%.
“Our customers’ trust in our products is our most precious asset,” said Fred Kappler, the company’s Head of Group Sales.
It is in the commercial vehicle sector where Volkswagen has performed strongest. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have recorded a 9.6% growth in deliveries so far this year, with the figure for October a spectacular 14.3%. Of the Volkswagen Group’s passenger car brands Skoda is leading the growth in deliveries, up by 6.7% between January-October 2016. Skoda recorded double-digit growth in October, with 88,500 cars delivered, up by 10.6% on the same month last year.
