Opel Group, which includes Vauxhall in the UK, has reported their best sales performance in four years after selling 1.1 million vehicles in 2015.

The news comes as a boost to the UK manufacturing sector, with a number of British-built models providing the catalyst for strong growth in the European market. Luton-based Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles experienced a particularly good year with sales up by 28 per cent, selling 27,000 examples of the award-winning Vivaro van as they reached an overall sales figure of 41,000 units for 2015.

And, with a staggering 80,000 orders since its European sales launch two months ago, the new Astra is on course to help ensure 2016 is another successful year for the company.

Volume increases in 20 European markets, including Vauxhall the UK, saw Opel Group sales climb by 3.3 per cent. Vauxhall recorded a sixth consecutive year of growth with the Corsa, Astra, and Mokka models all making the UK top ten bestseller list, with the Mokka sales alone rising by 16 per cent across all markets.
